Ford is making a notable change to the 2025 Escape Platinum, specifically in the wheel department. According to the latest update in the order guide, a new 19-inch ebony black painted machine face aluminum wheel is now available as an optional feature for the Platinum trim.

However, there's more to this than just an added choice. While this new wheel was initially introduced as an option, it appears to be replacing the current standard wheel — the 19-inch machine face aluminum wheel with dark tarnished painted pockets. According to the fine print in the updated standard equipment list, all Platinum orders scheduled for July production and later will come equipped with the new ebony black wheel as standard equipment.

This change suggests a possible supply issue with the dark tarnished wheels. It's not the first time Ford has adjusted standard equipment in response to inventory constraints — we saw a similar move with the Super Duty lineup, where the XLT wheel was swapped for the Lariat wheel due to shortages.

In summary, for customers eyeing the Escape Platinum from July onward, expect to see the sleek new ebony black wheels as the new standard — a likely response to limited supply of the original design.
