Changes are Coming to the 2025 Ford Explorer

The Ford Explorer was refreshed for the 2025 model year with redesigned front and rear ends and a new interior which includes the Ford digital experience infotainment system with Google Maps and Google Play Apps. The 2025 Ford Explorer has been hitting dealership lots this fall. Ford is updating some of the standard and optional equipment for the Ford Explorer for the second half of production of the 2025 model year.

Some of those changes include standard captain chairs for the second row on the active trim instead of the second row bench seat. Second row bench seat will be available as a standalone option. Space White will replace Iconic Silver for the Active trim as well.

On the ST-Line, Ford has updated the Premium Package. It will no longer include the Power Tilt/Telescoping Steering Wheel, Third Row Power Fold Seats, Second Row Sun Shades and the Multi-contoured Seats but will be $1,380 less than it was for job 1.

The ST has some upgrades as well with the introduction of the Sun and Sound Package which cost $2,995 and will include a Panoramic Moonroof, 14 speaker B&O Sound System and Multi-contoured Seats which were originally standard equipment on the ST. That will make the standard ST $1,345 less than it was for job 1.

The Platinum has some changes as well and will have a $495 price increase versus job 1. The Platinum trim will have the Second Row Sun Shades removed from the standard equipment as well as the Power Tilt/Telescoping Steering Wheel. It will get the Space White to replace Iconic Silver for a new paint color and will also get the Open on Approach Liftgate added standard content and one year of BlueCruise subscription is now standard on the Platinum. The Platinum trim will also get a different wheel option, 21” Bright Machine Aluminum with the Tarnish Dark Pockets replaces a 20” Polished Wheel. A new 21” Dark Alloy Machine Aluminum Wheel will replace the 21” Dark Alloy Polished Aluminum Wheel in the Platinum Ultimate Package.

Normally we don't see a lot of changes from job 1 to job 2 but it seems that Ford has put a lot of emphasis into getting more people into the 2025 Ford Explorer by making some adjustments on packaging to lower prices on some trims as well as package changes to entice people to order those packages. These changes will go into effect at the Chicago Assembly Plant starting November 25th, 2024. You can find Job 1 versions of the 2025 Ford Explorer at your local dealership and you can order a job 2 version right now at your local dealership as well.
