If you’ve been configuring a new Ford vehicle on the Ford website lately, you might not have noticed some important changes—yet. Ford has rolled out several updates in what it calls Job 2, but these aren’t reflected in the Build and Price tool on Ford.com just yet. That means any configurations still tied to Job 1 will soon shift to the new structure under Job 2, which includes a number of noteworthy changes—some of them significant.

What Is “Job 2”?

In automotive manufacturing, “Job One” typically refers to the initial production run of a new model year, while “Job Two” includes mid-cycle updates or corrections. As Job Two rolls out, these tweaks will gradually become the new standard for production going forward.

Key Product Updates in Job 2

Here’s a breakdown of what’s new or changing:

1. Fast Charging Adapter No Longer Included

Previously, the NASC fast charging adapter came bundled with the mobile power cord. With Job 2, this adapter is now a standalone option. If you’re configuring a vehicle now, don’t assume it’s included—you’ll need to manually add it if you want fast charging capability at Tesla Superchargers.

2. Tire Sealant and Inflator Kit

This kit is no longer included as standard equipment. Like the adapter, it has also become a freestanding option. It’s a good idea to double-check your build and consider adding it if needed.

3. New Style Option for GT and Premium Trims

Ford has added matte clear hood stripes as an available option for the GT and Premium with the Sport Appearance Package. This cosmetic update will likely appeal to enthusiasts looking for a more aggressive and custom appearance.

When Are These Changes Effective?

These updates went into effect on April 28, so if your order or configuration is from before that date, it may not reflect the new options. Be sure to review your build and make adjustments if necessary—especially if you were counting on now optional features.

Final Thoughts

As automakers continue to refine their offerings mid-year, it’s important for buyers and dealers alike to stay informed. Ford’s Job 2 changes reflect a shift toward more customizable features, but also place the responsibility on buyers to ensure their vehicle is equipped exactly as needed. If you’re in the market, make sure you’re not relying on outdated assumptions from earlier configurations.
